Matt’s (not) running with scissors….

I am getting ready for our Stampin’ Up Leadership conference here in Orlando.  I’m thrilled not to get on a plane like I usually do BUT I put off making my swaps and getting ready since I thought I had more time after the holidays!

I was sitting on the sofa last night, watching a movie and cutting out uber-zillion flowers for my card swap.  Matt offered to help cut paper or punch something.  I asked “what would be the easiest for you to do?”

He said ” I can cut flowers”.    I looked at him with that “you’ve got to be kidding me-you don’t know what you’re doing-it’s harder than it looks-my flowers are going to look like they’ve been trampled” look.

I said ” But they have to look like I punched them out, with nice round edges, no jaggedy lines and leaving a little bit around the stamped lines!”

Matt said ” what, you don’t think I can do it?  I’ve seen you do it   It doesn’t look that hard”.

And he did it.  And he cut them well, I mean really good.  Like, a lot of my new stampers and some seasoned stampers still have trouble getting those results.

Since I had a request from Carol in Ohio for a video on how to cut out stamped images nicely, here is Matt explaining his technique!

I’ll be posting everyday from Leadership as we get our NEW catalog so pop in and see pics of  our make and takes, demonstrations and displays!

The Manager’s reception is going to be awesome!  They have arranged with Universal Studios to have a part of Marvel (in Islands of Adventure) just for us!  Spiderman, Hulk rollercoaster (my fav),  dinner, and a DJ for dancing in the streets for everyone!  We’ll also get to have a free Caricature portrait done that night!

Matt will be attending as my guest and since he works at Universal, that is especially fun for him!

Look at the cool lanyard I got in the mail for the event:

My husband would rather die than help me with cards!

  5. Kim says:

How sweet of him to help! He’s a keeper!

  6. Rose-Ellen says:

I had no doubt he’d do an awesome job (but they weren’t my flowers/cards either, so I completely understand). Does he understand that now that he’s had his test run he can be put to work at a moments notice?

    See you in Orlando!

What a great helper!! My husband helps out every now and then too, cutting paper or punching objects. Isn’t it great to have someone so supportive?

Awesome job. My DH is very supportive too and goes to almost every workshop I have in the evenings. Women are always amazed and if he can’t come for some reason they always seem disappointed. *grin*

  12. Lora Lee says:

WOW! What an awesome husband! That was soooo sweet of him to help!!!

  13. I love that your Man shows his love and support by cutting out flowers for you. When I first was married my Man would mark endlessly for me. True love!!! We’d watch TV (or rather, listen TV) and work together.

    What a great valentine story.

My husband is not good with scissors. He is left handed and for some reason cannot cut well. Lucky you! He is a great supporter of my crafts though.

    p.s.
And my daughter says her husband would rather “gauge his eyes out” before he sat and cut flowers!

  15. Trish Scogin says:

That’s impressive work he did there. BTW, what stamp is that…..I love that flower!!!!

  16. Julia says:

Hey, what’s your address? I can send all my stuff to Matt and he can chop them out. That is my least favorite thing to do! Great job!

  17. Sheryl says:

Matt….you did an outstanding job cutting out those flowers. My hubby also helps out when I am in a crunch for time and he also does a great job on things like that.

  18. Simmy says:

OMG, how cute is your husband for doing that!! Can he call mine and give him some pointers?? LOL Have a wonderful time at Leadership. Can’t wait to read updates.

  19. Jo says:

What a NICE hubby you have to help you out!! He did a GREAT job and explained it very well I thought.

Have FUN and can’t wait to see all that you did.

  20. Charlene H. says:

How awesome is that! You hubby helps you. Mine would never do that. I enjoyed watching this video. Great job!

  21. It looks like helping out others runs in your family! Your videos are always so inspirational & this one broke the concept down so nicely, too!
My hubby will help but, only if it’ll help us get to sleep earlier, since I’m a late night stamper. Thanks Matt & Linda!!

  22. Adrian says:

Wow, your husband is awesome! It sounds like he really put some thought into how to do this properly. My husband has never shown the slightest interest in my hobbies.

  23. Dee says:

He’s a ‘keeper’ for sure! Great tut Matt! I did learn something..you are good!!!
    Thanks so much…Hugs from Oklahoma

Wow – your husband is amazing! Such scissor skills, such a nice guy to actually film a tutorial, so sweet to help out with the swaps – what are you feeding him? Or maybe I should ask what are you going to owe him – LOL!

Thanks for the video! (and the leadership pics!)

    Bethany

  27. LisaC says:

Wow! Great man! My husband helps occasionally, but complains a lot! Can we see the swap he helped make?

    Matt, you’re my hero 🙂

  30. Tracy says:

Seriously- where did you find your husband? I LOVE that he not only helps you cut out the flowers but does it so well that he makes a video tutorial for the rest of us- AMAZING! Keep up the great work! (:
