Video: Test Driving The new Basic Black Archival Ink Pad

ink pad test drive

Stampin’ Up has been experimenting with black ink pads for as long as I’ve been a demonstrator.  I remember the first Basic Black for me was a little ink pad, about 3″ x 5″.  Then they switched to the bigger, linen or fabric pads but they sometimes turned a weird purple color.  Then our new foam pads, which only in the Basic Gray and Basic Black, dried out too quickly because of the waterproof formula.

Enter the new Archival Basic Black and Basic Gray, due out in the Holiday Catalog Sept 1st!  It is not a foam pad like the other colors but a felt or fabric pad, so it feels like the old pads but less textured if that makes sense.

I was hopeful but knowing there have been issues getting the right water-resistant pad.

I couldn’t wait to do a comparison of all 3 black pads to see how it stood up.   (Since I’m a Stampin’ Up demo, I am only testing our 3 black pads and not others on the market.)   Here’s my comparison of the 3 pads:

So for a water-resistant pad, good for coloring and basic stamping, I like it and it is much needed. Easier to clean than StazOn and crisper than memento.  The Basic Gray stamps just as well and is nice for a softer outline.

I think you will want to try it out!

Hope you can Stamp Something this weekend,

Linda
