Best Birds: Prairie Warbler

final-62

Ever since I moved to North Carolina I have been learning more about birds.  I’ve also loved raptors and now I’m learning about the little guys.  Growing up in northern Michigan, I can remember we always had a big bird book and we’d mark off each bird as we discovered it.

So when the new Stampin’ Up annual catalog included a bird stamp set and framelits, I had to get ’em.  It has lots of options with just the stamp set alone, which is what I stamped today.  I stamped in Archival black ink on watercolor paper and used Crushed Curry and Delightful Dijon with a touch of Soft Suede to watercolor the bird.  I think I accidentally made him look angry although certainly not my intent!

There’s a linen-type texture stamp in the set so I randomly stamped the bottom of crumb cake card stock.

To figure out my bird colors, I googled North Carolina wrens, warblers and birds in general.  I found an artist named Kate Dolamore and she watercolors bird charts.  You can see more of her artwork in her Etsy store HERE

Who knew there were SO many warblers?   I chose the Prairie Warbler since the shape was similar and the stamp had a mask around the eye.

Here is the Best Birds bundle.  You can also get each separately.  Click on the photo below to read details and shop in my online store or email me if you’d like to have a set!

It’s important to know that the 3 solid framelits do not match the stamps. I guess they are meant to be used independently.  The 2 open framelits cut out the 2 bird stamps.

I bought this set and am anxious to use it. I love birds. But I love most animals. I just find them to be among the most colorful animals in the world. It reminds me of the beauty only God can create.
